Shrimp Uniformity and Its Alternatives Management

At discussion before have explained the basic understanding related to shrimp uniformity level. As have explained, the shrimps population within pond mainly can be grouped on 3 (three), there are: (i) uniform shrimp, (ii) medium shrimp uniformity level, and (iii) serious shrimp uniformity level.

Besides the explanation, understanding related to alternative method of its management based on condition that met in field.

Mainly, a needed management to apply related to shrimp uniformity covering: management of feeding program and management of water quality (assumption: used fry already uniform, both size and its age). The alternative management to above mentioned condition are as follows:
  1. Uniform shrimps. If the shrimp population within pond have size relative uniform, hence needed technically management to apply is how to maintain the ideal condition till the shrimps ready to harvested normally. Feeding program management have to always follow shrimp need level and amount of daily feeding which given as according to shrimp density level within pond. At this condition usually the given feed amount will show tendency which is always increasing pursuant to time (except the shrimps on periodical molting condition). The feeding program has to be managed carefully based on conducted monitoring (through checking ancho and sampling).

Besides feeding program, the alternative needed management to apply is pond waters quality. Usually, there have a correlation between shrimp uniformity and pond water quality (with assumption: applied feeding program like above mentioned), that is: shrimp size will relative uniform if management of waters quality as according to shrimp need level. The needed effort to apply on waters quality management is how to maintain the pond waters quality relative stabilize and its not happened a change fluctuation of waters quality. The discussions related to pond waters quality have been explained before.

  2. The shrimps with medium uniformity level. At this condition, a needed technically management is how to prevent its uniformity not increase to serious level, so an effort to improve it to nice condition. The applied feeding program is need reviewed especially related to shrimp feed size composition also amount of given feed. The feed size composition and amount of its can be estimated through monitoring when sampling and ancho checking conducted. The estimation included percentage of density of each shrimp size at population, so that can be estimated how much the feed size to be used and its amount to be given in once daily feeding frequency daily. The composition is needed to re-accommodate in accordance with conducted monitoring. If the shrimp uniformity aim to better level hence the given feed size will fewer.

For example : within a pond the shrimp population have 3 different size type, hence given feed better also consist of 3 different size feed type which is adapted to the shrimp. If the shrimp uniformity within the pond factually direct to the better level, for example its becoming 2 shrimp size types, hence given feed size type composition is better become 2 shrimp feed type too. Pond water quality management conducted on this condition is same with item of no. 1 above mentioned.

  3. The serious shrimp uniformity level. At this condition, a needed technically management is how to prevent shrimp population within pond is not decrease drastically (caused by cannibalism process). The applied feeding program basically same with item of no. 2 above mentioned, however the composition of feed size type used in once feeding frequency usually also will be more. At more extreme handling, is usually conducted with sorting of shrimp size directly at ancho checking or at of sampling activity (not recommended). Sorting conducted to the shrimps which have extremely size one another so that expected the shrimp uniformity level within the pond will better though its density become to degradation. Pond water quality management conducted on this condition is same with item of no. 1 above mentioned.
The alternative handling like above mentioned basically is an effort to maintain, to improve and prevent a condition so that shrimp uniformity level within the pond can direct to expected condition especially to optimally output.
