Shrimp Farming Area Development (2) – Macro Area Approach (Waters)

Waters / marine is a vital component for shrimp culture because it is the habitat of the shrimp itself, so its success will be determined how the carrying capacity and water quality / marine as a source of water intake into the pond.

Some aspects are considered in determining the feasibility level aquatic / marine in the aquaculture process, among other:

  1. Type of waters / marine will be used rather than an open waters (strait, bay) so that the level of abrasion and sedimentation in the pond area is not too large;

  2. Water quality (physical, chemical, and biological) are at the threshold of normal for shrimp culture;

  3. Tidal pattern is semi-diurnal tidal or diurnal which supports the smooth circulation of water in the pond;

  4. Waters / marine is not a crowded waters for tourism activities, sailing, fishing and other activities that could disturb / affect water quality and shrimp culture activities;

  5. Level of water contamination, whether caused by household activities, and industrial wastes is relatively small or nonexistent.
Waters approach above will be used as reference in determining the concept of shrimp culture technology that will be used further in accordance with the carrying capacity and quality of waters in the region.
