Shrimp Culture Story of This Month - 4

On a sunny morning just after feeding activities, Fulan looks still just walking around a pond which he managed. Occasionally he squatted, looking at the waters edge of pond. Whether what is being observed, that there must be something that makes him nervous condition associated with ponds that have been operated for almost a month.

After what was observed phenomenon does not show as expected, Fulan eventually join with his friends that were gathered in a resting place.

Seeing the restlessness of Fulan, his friends tried to comfort him. "What’s going on with you Fulan, have you seen this week really nervous, think the country matters?" asked one of his friends. Hearing the chatter, Fulan just smiled. "No country matters that made me nervous, but my shrimp in that pond," said Fulan while his index finger leads to meant ponds. "Waht’s happen with your shrimps, Fulan ? Infected by ringworwm diseases, treat skin ointment just use a drum ", said another friend who makes all who gathered there to laugh (note = ringworm, is the term used for diseases" white spot "/ white spots are often attacked the shrimp). Fulan had laugh to hear a joke. "Its like you, too many ringworm on your skin", said Si Fulan with laughing.

"Well, actually that makes me restless and anxiety was why already almost a month the fry density at the pond it seems no sign of life such as your shrimp. Ahmad as a technician in the area of ponds are not directly answer the question, "Well, Mr. Fulan restless and agitated again huh? Also sensitive. "If it was not, now I ask for splash into the pond water " said Ahmad with smiling to Fulan. Hearing the request, Fulan release him shirts quickly and immediately get splash into the pond.

One week later, just after feeding in the morning, Fulan casually lifted pond’s lift-net which on the previously given feed. How shocked he was, first felt the rope of lift-net on vibrate and after almost until the water surface, the shrimps seen jumping in significant amounts. When the lift-net has been lifted, Fulan transfixed watching the shrimps on it, because there were many, the average weight of shrimp above normal and is also relatively uniform in size while in lift-net the feed had been discharged without residual replaced by fecal- faeces of shrimp that are blackish brown. This is a surprise as it had been said by Ahmad week ago.

Based on the story illustration above, there are some things that can be used as notes, among other are:

1. In shrimp farming, especially in the first month phase untill the mid-second month phase, a common phenomenon that the shrimps does not appear on the surface so that often make we wary but ultimately only made a surprise;
   
   
2. This phenomenon like mentioned on item no.1 can occurs because stock of natural food in ponds is still available widely, so the shrimp more activity in pond bottom to consume natural food. The shrimp begin appear on the water surface if the stock of availability of natural food in ponds has been reduced / low;
   
   
3. If the observed phenomena such as above, is better should be checking directly into the ponds to sense whether there is any activity of shrimp in these ponds. This checking is necessary as a basis for decisions related to the sustainability of shrimp culture activities in the period.
