Indonesia-Shrimp Production is Stagnant

The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) released its data regarding national shrimp production increase at 2.6% from 338,060 tons in 2009 to 352,600 tons in 2010. Unfortunately, such shrimp production increase was not sufficient so that it could not meet production target of 2010 previously defined at 400,300 tons.

Indonesia to Stop Shrimp Imports

Minister of fisheries and marine resources Fadel Muhammad said here on Saturday the government planned to stop shrimp imports. "The policy of allowing shrimp imports hurts businessmen and therefore it will be revoked," he said during shrimp harvesting in Pesawaran, Lampung, Sumatra.

Food Veterinary Office of European Union (FVO-EU) declared their satisfied on Indonesia shrimp culture after done the inspection in November 19-30. Director General of Processing and Marketing of Fisheries Product„Fisheries and Marine Affairs Department, Martani Huseini said, EU team was visited some shrimp ponds in East Java and also in Jakarta.
