Pond Water Transparency – 02 – Transparency Level

Some factors which become to logical basic in determining the level of pond water transparency are a condition of pond water either from biological, chemistry and physics for shrimp life, there are among others :

A. The Pond Water Transparency is Too High

At this condition the problems that probably come up, are:
  1. The level of pond water productivity is low, because the plankton content very poor.

  2. The process of biological, chemistry and physical were bothered so that happened imbalance in water ecosystem, because plankton is a main producer which besides as food source also follow to support the processes (biological, chemistry and physical) with oxygen supplying into water through it’s photosynthesis activity.

  3. Sun’s rays penetration into water bottom will assist a oxidize process of dirt of pond bottom which mixed with plankton carcass so upraised to pond water surface. This condition is a process of pond “klekap” forming and if it is not soon lifted will resettle to the pond bottom and its will decay and very dangerous for shrimps.

  4. The high pond water transparency have a potency to grow a moss within pond and its will obstruct to plankton forming and also obstruct to moving and activities of shrimps.
B. The Pond Water Transparency is Too Low/Concentrated

At this condition the problems that probably come up, are:
  1. At day especially at fine weather, oxygen content within pond water will over quantity which produced by plankton through photosyntesis process with constructively sun’s rays and can endanger the shrimps if it have exceeded normal value.

  2. At night there will be happened an oxygen absorption competition among abundance planktons with shrimps and other organisms, besides also there will be happened an increased CO2 rate within pond water.

  3. The low pond water transparency is enable the growing of an aerobe bacterium in pond bottom which having the harmful character (pathogen) for shrimps.
